See, Now that IS Interesting.

Yesterday I failed to post before bed...we had a very long day with several interesting stops.  The Garell Stretch is The Garell Spent today.  We were in the car long enough for Daisy dog to to grow nails, for the men to grow beards and the ladies to forget their tidiness.  The only one left without complaint is the boyfriend...don't know yet if that is because of his temperament or his politeness.  We will see how far we have to push him as the trip continues. 

All that said, we woke in Amarillo and stopped by Cadillac Ranch, definitely a Route 66 must do if you are ever wandering the panhandle of Texas. It has been standing here since 1974 as an organic art installation. People have come far and wide to add their personal touches and even back in the day take souvenirs off the cars.

Our little one was confident that The Illuminati had been here, as a growing Garell she loves her conspiracy theories. We assured her, if they had been here they would not have spray painted a huge symbol.

Husband left our family mark.

Our little wrote her name and many pictures to leave her mark.

In the interest of time zone science (which is lost with me for so many reasons) we left Amarillo at 9:26 and arrived in New Mexico before we left at 9:16. 

Yes, we know there are lots of things to do in New Mexico.  But most importantly we stopped to have lunch with my mom and stepdad.  It was hard to resist all that NM has to offer...but we plan to come back and stay with my mom and enjoy her world one day in the future. We are running about 24 hours behind Garell Gathering time and need to stay focused. 

I won't bore you with the hundreds of photos of the New Mexican landscape...but here are a few.  The photos do no justice to this majestic world.  We saw lava fields that triggered some extra research, none of our pictures were of any value so if you are interested in learning more just "google" New Mexico Lava Beds.  New Mexico: Land of Volcanoes

We saw Pyramid Rock near Gallup ...not man made.

We fought winds most of the day and found ourselves 2,263 miles from home with temperatures jumping up and down.  Take note, wind gust at 52mph...not so much fun with a trailer in tow.

And finally we make it to Arizona...little in the way back keeps asking "Is that the Grand Canyon" every time she saw a big rock.  The rest of us had two things on our minds...getting to the hotel before midnight (made it at 10:00 AZ time, but 12:00 our body time) and the other... takin' it easy!
