Nothing like waking up in the same bed two mornings in a row. Daisy has really appreciated it as well, getting to know everyone and getting comfy with her surroundings. So comfy that she was perfectly behaved while she stayed behind during our adventure. Keeping the Garell's on their toes.
We decided that we hadn't had enough time in the car so we loaded up and headed over to one of our ghost destinations. Again, I can't complain about the traffic. It took us the exact hour and half that google said and was mostly smooth sailing.
Yep, we went to the Queen Mary. Known as one of USA's most haunted locations. Our title today was inspired by our fear-ridden little one who started the tour with "I know I am scared since my eyebrows hurt." and ended her and Dad's tour with a quick escape to the car. We were lucky enough to have a tour guide who hosts the late night paranormal investigations and had very detailed descriptions of his personal encounters.

Stairway of Death. Several people from 3rd class have died here (along with over 50 other documented victims of the Queen Mary). The stairs are unusually steep and are towards the bow of the ship and sudden movement would toss people off the stairs if they were not holding on tight enough. The floor at the bottom is the usual ship floor of steel covered with cork and and linoleum causing head trauma.

| No ghost, but unsettling. This is the only remaining propeller kept in a special box. There was something creepy about looking down into the blue-green water in a dark room. |

| A surprise find...the ghost of Douglas Fairbanks Jr. who frequented the ship may not be wandering the Queen Mary in the afterlife but many other popular haunted locations have claimed communication with him. |

| The all famous door of death. Notice the #13, it was an unlucky doorway for crewman John Pedder when the door crushed him to death. We were excited to be in this spot at the very moment a man approached us to tell us about the story. Happy to have a third location where ghost stories were offered to us before we asked. We will always joke that he may have been a ghost since he followed the door story with his own story about having a hard time breathing in one of the other areas and no longer does tours. |

Bess really enjoyed the ship before the ghost stories and we highly recommend just taking your little ones on the non-ghost tour. You don't want their "eyebrows to hurt".
Our ride back we decided to take the shore road Pacific Coast Highway 1. It was fun to see all the people, little towns, and different beach biomes.
